What is Respibien Freshmint?
Respibien Freshmint is a medicine belonging to the group of sympathomimetic medicines. It is a nasal decongestant containing oxymetazoline as its active ingredient.
Administered through the nose, it causes local constriction of the blood vessels, decongesting the nasal mucosa.
What is Respibien Freshmint used for?
Respibien Freshmint 0.5 mg nasal spray is indicated for the local and temporary relief of nasal congestion in adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age.
How to use Respibien Freshmint?
Follow the instructions in the package leaflet or as directed by your pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Dosage
The recommended dose for adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age is: 1 spray in each nostril, every 12 hours if necessary, in the morning and at night.
Do not exceed 2 applications in 24 hours.
Do not repeat at intervals of less than 12 hours.
Consult your doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 days of treatment.
Administration
This medicine is administered nasally.
Before applying, remove any nasal fluids by blowing your nose thoroughly.
If this is your first time using it or you have not used it for a long time, you will need to prime the spray.
To prime the spray, hold the container away from your body and press the spray several times until a fine mist of liquid is released.
To prevent infection, after each use and before closing the container, clean the tip of the applicator with a clean, damp cloth.
Each container should be used by only one person.
The duration of treatment should not exceed 7 days unless prescribed by your doctor.
If you use more Respibien Freshmint than you should
If you use excessive or very frequent doses, or if you accidentally swallow the product, you may experience: headache, tremors, insomnia, excessive sweating, palpitations, tachycardia, increased blood pressure or sleep disturbances.

Use in children under 6 years of age
This medicine cannot be used in children under 6 years of age. Children may be particularly prone to the adverse effects of this medicine.
Patients over 65 years of age
Consult your doctor or pharmacist, as elderly patients are more sensitive to the adverse effects of the medicine.
Other medicines and Respibien Freshmint
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines.
This medicine should not be used by people who are taking a number of medicines that are listed in detail in the enclosed leaflet.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
Although problems are not expected, if you notice drowsiness, do not drive or use dangerous tools or machines.
Respibien Freshmint contains benzalkonium chloride
Benzalkonium chloride may cause irritation or inflammation inside the nose, especially when used for long periods of treatment.
Composition of Respibien Freshmint
Active ingredient: Oxymetazoline hydrochloride. Each ml contains 0.5 mg of oxymetazoline hydrochloride (65 micrograms per 0.13 ml spray).
Other ingredients: Benzalkonium chloride, glycine (E-640), povidone (E-1201), non-crystallisable liquid sorbitol (E-420), peppermint flavouring (flavouring components and glycerol triacetate (E-1518)), aloe vera, eucalyptol and purified water.
Appearance of Respibien Menta
Respibien Freshmint is a slightly whitish solution with a characteristic aroma. It comes in a blue polyethylene terephthalate container, equipped with a metering pump and a cap to ensure its preservation. Each container contains 15 ml of nasal spray solution.
