What is Respibien?
Respibien is a medicine belonging to the sympathomimetic group. It contains oxymetazoline as its active ingredient. It is a nasal decongestant, as when administered through the nose it causes local constriction of the blood vessels, decongesting the nasal mucosa.
What is Respibien used for?
Respibien nasal spray is indicated for the temporary relief of local nasal congestion in adults and children aged 6 years and older.
How to use Respibien?
Follow the instructions in the package leaflet or those given by your pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Dosage
The recommended dose for adults and children over 6 years of age is: 2 or 3 sprays in each nostril, every 10 or 12 hours.
In the morning and at night. No more than 2 applications in 24 hours.
Administration of Respibien
It is used nasally.
Before applying this medicine, blow your nose thoroughly.
If you are using it for the first time, or have not used it for a long time, you must prime the spray.
Hold the container away from your body and press the spray several times until a sprayed liquid comes out.
After each use and before closing the container, clean the tip of the applicator with a clean, damp cloth.
Each container should only be used by one person.
Consult a doctor if your condition worsens or does not improve after 3 days of treatment.

Children under 6 years of age
Not to be used in children under 6 years of age.
Over 65
Elderly patients are more sensitive to the adverse effects of this medicine; consult your doctor.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
It should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Driving and using machines
No problems are expected, but if you feel drowsy, do not drive or use dangerous tools or machines.
Composition of Respibien
Active ingredient: Oxymetazoline hydrochloride. Each millilitre of nasal spray solution contains 0.5 mg (65 micrograms per spray) of oxymetazoline hydrochloride.
Other ingredients: Benzalkonium chloride, glycine (E-640), povidone (E-1201), sorbitol (E-420) and purified water.
