What is Respibien Antiallergic? And how does it work?
Respibien Antiallergic is a medicine that combines two active ingredients, oxymetazoline and chlorphenamine.
Oxymetazoline belongs to the group of direct-acting sympathomimetic medicines and has a nasal decongestant effect.
Chlorphenamine belongs to the group of antihistamine medicines that help to reduce excess nasal secretion.
What is Respibien Antiallergic used for?
Respibien Antiallergic nasal spray is used to provide local and temporary relief from nasal congestion caused by allergic rhinitis.
How to use Respibien Antiallergic?
Follow the instructions in the package leaflet or those given by your pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Dosage
The normal dose of Respibien Allergy for adults and children over 6 years of age is: 1 application in both nostrils, once a day.
If necessary, another application can be made after 12 hours.
Do not use more than twice in 24 hours.
Administration
It is used nasally.
If this is your first time using it, you will need to prime the spray.
Hold the container away from your body and press the spray several times until a fine mist is released.
Blow your nose thoroughly before using Respibien Anti-Allergy Spray.
Press firmly and quickly once into each nostril, inhaling deeply while pressing the spray and keeping your head raised.
The container can only be used by one person to avoid contagion.
After each application, clean the tip of the applicator with a clean, damp cloth and close it immediately.
The maximum duration of treatment is 3 days.
If symptoms worsen or persist after 3 days of continuous treatment, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
If it is necessary to repeat the treatment, it should be done several days after the previous treatment has ended.
If you use more Respibien Antialérgico than you should
If you apply excessive or very continuous doses, you may experience: headache, tremors, insomnia, excessive sweating, palpitations, tachycardia, increased blood pressure or sleep disturbances.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines.

Children
It cannot be used by children under 6 years of age. Children may be particularly prone to the adverse effects of the medicine.
Use in people over 65
Consult your doctor or pharmacist, as older people are more sensitive to the adverse effects of the medicine.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, as it may cause serious adverse effects in newborns.
Driving and using machines
Although it is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machines, if you experience drowsiness or dizziness, do not drive or operate dangerous machinery.

It contains less than 23 mg of sodium per ml, which means it is practically ‘sodium-free’.
Composition of Respibien Antialérgico Cinfa
Active ingredients: Oxymetazoline hydrochloride and chlorphenamine maleate. Each ml contains 0.5 mg (65 micrograms per 0.13 ml spray) of oxymetazoline hydrochloride and 0.5 mg (65 micrograms per 0.13 ml spray) of chlorphenamine maleate.
Excipients: Sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium hydrogen carbonate, thimerosal, niaouli oil, phosphoric acid and/or sodium hydroxide (to adjust the pH) and purified water.

This medicine is a clear, low-viscosity aqueous nasal spray solution. It comes in a white, high-density polyethylene bottle with a metering pump and a screw cap to ensure preservation. Each pack contains 15 ml of nasal spray solution.
