What is Cinfatós Oral Solution and what is it used for?
Cinfatós is a medicine whose active ingredient is dextromethorphan. It is an antitussive that inhibits the cough reflex.
Cinfatós is indicated
For the symptomatic treatment of irritative cough and nervous cough in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.
It is not indicated for coughs accompanied by expectoration.
You should consult a doctor if your condition worsens or does not improve after 7 days of treatment.
How to take Cinfatós Oral Solution
It is taken orally.
- The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older is: Take 5 ml every 4 hours if necessary.
If this is not sufficient due to the severity of the symptoms, you may take 10 ml every 4 hours, if necessary.
Do not exceed 6 doses of 60 ml in 24 hours.
You may also take 15 ml every 6 to 8 hours, as needed.
The maximum amount that can be taken in 24 hours is 60 ml spread over several doses.
Always use the lowest effective dose.
- The recommended dose for children aged 6 to 11 years: Take 2.5 or 5 ml, depending on the severity of the cough, every 4 hours if necessary.
Do not exceed 6 doses of 30 ml in 24 hours.
You can also take 7.5 ml every 6 to 8 hours as needed.
The maximum amount that can be taken in 24 hours is 30 ml spread over several doses.
Serious effects can occur in children in case of overdose, including neurological disorders.
Caregivers should not exceed the recommended dose.
Children between 2 and 6 years of age should not take this medicine. There are other formulations more suitable for their age.
Children under 2 years of age
It is contraindicated.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Driving and using machines
In rare cases, during treatment, there may be a decrease in reaction time, or mild drowsiness and dizziness.
If you notice these symptoms, you should not drive or operate dangerous machinery.
Composition Cinfatós 2 mg/ml Oral Solution 200ml
-Active ingredient: Each millilitre of the oral solution contains 2 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide as the active ingredient.
- Other ingredients: Sorbitol solution 70% (E-420), sodium benzoate (E-211), sodium saccharin (E-954), citric acid monohydrate, orange flavouring, ethanol and purified water.
