What is STODAL Syrup and what is it used for?

Homeopathic medicinal product without recognised therapeutic indications. Authorised by a special simplified registration which guarantees its pharmaceutical quality and safety without the need to submit efficacy data (Directive 2001/83/EC). A doctor should be consulted before use and if symptoms persist.

2 What should you know before using Stodal syrup?

Do not take Stodal syrup:

If you are allergic to any of the active ingredients or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (see section 6).

In children under 2 years of age.

Warnings and precautions

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before you start taking Stodal Syrup.

Other medicines and Stodal Syrup

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or plan to take any other medicines, including non-prescription medicines.

Taking Stodal Syrup with food and drink

Stodal syrup should preferably be taken outside mealtimes.

Driving and operating machinery

There are no studies on the effects on driving and operating machinery.

Stodal Syrup contains sucrose (sugar). If you know that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, do not use this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Stodal Syrup contains 3.45 g of sucrose in a 5 ml dose and 10.3 g of sucrose in a 15 ml dose, which should be taken into account in patients with diabetes mellitus. May be harmful to teeth.

Stodal Syrup contains 5.4 mg benzoic acid in a 5 ml dose and 16.2 mg benzoic acid in a 15 ml dose.

Benzoic acid may increase the risk of jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) in newborn babies (up to 4 weeks of age).

Stodal syrup contains 96% (w/w) alcohol (ethanol), which is equivalent to 42 mg alcohol (ethanol) in a 5 ml dose and 125 mg alcohol (ethanol) in a 15 ml dose. The volume of this medicine is equivalent to 3.2 ml of beer and 1.3 ml of wine.

The small amount of alcohol in this medicine has no noticeable effect.

3 How should Stodal syrup be used?

Always take the medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, always ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

The recommended dose is 15 ml, measured with the measuring cup, 3 to 5 times a day.

Although there are no studies to support paediatric dosing, the recommended dose for children from 2 years of age is 5 ml, measured by the measuring cup, 3 to 5 times daily.

The dose should be spread throughout the day.

Divide the doses according to improvement and stop the medicine when the symptoms disappear.

If the symptoms worsen or if there is no improvement after 7 days of treatment, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Stodal Syrup must be dosed individually. Consult your pharmacist or doctor trained in homeopathy.

Oral use.

If you have taken more Stodal Syrup than you should, or in the event of an overdose or accidental ingestion, contact your doctor or pharmacist or call the Poisons Information Service on 915 620 420 and report the medicine and the amount taken.

If you miss a dose of Stodal Syrup

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

If you have any further questions about how to use this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4 Side effects that may occur

Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.

If you develop symptoms of allergy (hypersensitivity) stop taking Stodal Syrup.

5. Storage of Stodal Syrup

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

No special storage conditions are required for this medicine.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date shown on the carton after "EXP". The expiry date is the last day of the month shown.

Do not use within 1 year of opening.

Do not use this medicine if you see any visible signs of deterioration.

Medicines should not be flushed down the drain or thrown away. Dispose of unused containers and medicine at the SIGRE point in your pharmacy. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unwanted packaging and medicines. This will help protect the environment.
