What is Cinfatós and what is it used for?
Cinfatós is a medicine whose active ingredient is dextromethorphan. It is an antitussive that inhibits the cough reflex.
Cinfatós is indicated
For the symptomatic treatment of irritative cough and nervous cough in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.
It is not indicated for coughs accompanied by expectoration.
You should consult a doctor if your condition worsens or does not improve after 7 days of treatment.
How is Cinfatós taken?
It is taken orally. It comes in sachets. Open the sachet and pour the contents directly into the mouth. It is recommended to drink a glass of water after each dose and plenty of fluids throughout the day. It can be taken with or without food.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Driving and using machines
In rare cases, during treatment, there may be a decrease in reaction time, or mild drowsiness and dizziness. If you notice these symptoms, you should not drive or operate dangerous machinery.
Children under 12 years of age cannot take this medicine due to the amount of dextromethorphan contained in the sachet.
Recommended dose
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over: Take 1 sachet containing 15 mg every 4 hours if necessary.
Do not exceed 6 doses in 24 hours.
You can also take 2 sachets, equivalent to 30 mg, every 6 to 8 hours if necessary.
Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.
The maximum amount that can be taken in 24 hours is 8 sachets, equivalent to 120 mg, spread over several doses.
Always use the lowest effective dose.
