1. What is Arkocapsulas Hypericum and what is it used forThese capsules act as a Central Nervous System tonic.

This medicine is indicated for the symptomatic and temporary treatment of states of decay involving loss of interest, tiredness and sleep disturbances.

2. Before taking Arkocapsules HypericumDo nottake ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERICO

If you are already taking certain medicines (see Use of other medicines).

If you are allergic to hypericum or any of the other ingredients of ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERICUM.

If you are hypersensitive to light.

If you are under 18 years of age.

Take special care with ARKOCAPSULES HYPERICUM

If you are being treated with other medicines, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this hypericum-based preparation (see Use of other medicines).

• If you are already taking ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERICUM at the same time as other medicines, you should not stop taking it without first consulting your doctor. If you stop taking the hypericum preparation, some adverse reactions to other medicines may occur, especially in the case of ciclosporin, theophylline, digoxin or oral anticoagulants (warfarin, acenocoumarol) (see Use of other medicines).

• If you are taking ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERRICO, avoid intense exposure to UV rays (long exposure to the sun, UV baths).

• If symptoms worsen or persist after 4 weeks, despite taking the recommended dose regularly, you should consult a doctor. On the other hand, improvement usually does not occur until 10 to 14 days after the start of treatment.

Use of other medications

Patients taking the following medicines:

• for AIDS (antiretrovirals)

• for transplant rejection (cyclosporine)

• for epilepsy

• for the heart (digoxin)

• for the treatment of asthma or chronic bronchitis (theophylline)

• for migraine

• for depression

• oral anticoagulants

• oral contraceptives

should not start using hypericum preparations without first consulting their doctor or pharmacist (see Take special care with ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERICUM).

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Also tell your doctor or pharmacist if you suspect any change in the effects of the medicines you are taking at the same time as ARKOCAPSULES HYPERRICO.

Taking ARKOCAPSULES HYPERIC with food and drink

Food and drink have no influence on the effect of the medicine.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.

You should not take this medicine during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

Taking this medicine does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.

Important information about some of the ingredients of ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERRICOUS

This medicine contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, ask your doctor before taking this medicine.

3. How to take Arkocapsules HypericumFollow these instructions unless your doctor has given you different instructions.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are in any doubt. The normal dose is:

Adults and over 18 years of age: 1-2 capsules a day, taken with a large glass of water.

The usual duration of treatment is 3 to 4 weeks. If improvement occurs, treatment can be continued for up to 8 weeks.

• It is advisable to take the capsules at the same time each day.

• It is recommended to drink a glass of water with each dose.

• If you think that the effect of ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERIC is too strong or too weak, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

If you take more ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERRICO than you should

If you have taken too much ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERRICO, the following symptoms may appear: redness, itching and rash on the skin. On these occasions, you should avoid exposing your skin to UV rays (long exposure to the sun, UV baths), even for a week afterwards.

In case of overdose or accidental ingestion of large quantities of ARKOCAPSULES HYPERICUM, seek immediate medical attention or call the Poisons Information Service, telephone 915620420, indicating the medicine and the quantity taken.

If you forget to take ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERRIQUE

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

4. Possible side effects

• Like all medicines, ARKOCAPSULES HYPERIC may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

• In fair-skinned people, it may cause sunburn-like reactions on parts of the body exposed to intense sunlight. In these cases, intense exposure to UV rays (long exposures to the sun, UVA baths) should be avoided, even for a week afterwards.

• In rare cases, gastrointestinal disorders, allergic reactions (redness, itching and rash on the skin), tiredness or restlessness may occur.

• If you think that any of the side effects you experience are serious or if you notice any side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5. Storage of Arkocapsules HypericumKeep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not store above 25ºC.

Expiry date:

Do not use ARKOCAPSULAS HYPERICUM after the expiry date which is stated on the pack after the abbreviation ‘EXP’. The expiry date is the last day of the month indicated.

Medicines should not be flushed down the drain or thrown away. Please dispose of unneeded medicines and containers at the SIGRE Point at the pharmacy. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unneeded medicine containers and medicines. In this way, you will help to protect the environment.

6. Additional informationCompositionof ARKOCAPSULAS HIPÉRICO:

Each capsule contains as active ingredient 185 mg dry 60% m/m ethanolic extract of flowering tops of Hypericum perforatum L. (Hypericum) (dry plant/extract ratio:6-7;1) equivalent to 0.5 mg of total hypericins.

The other ingredients (excipients) are: lactose, magnesium stearate, gelatine, iron oxide (E-172) and titanium oxide (E-171).
