- Patients with glaucoma should have their intraocular pressure checked regularly.

- It is advisable to periodically assess intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma.

Interactions

- Alcohol. Alcohol may potentiate the sedative effects of California poppy. As a general recommendation, it is advisable to avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages in people treated with sedative substances.

- Hypnotics. California poppy may potentiate the effects of other hypnotic drugs, such as benzodiazepines, opioid analgesics or H1-antihistamines.

Pregnancy

No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women are available. Allocriptopine in California poppy has oxytocic effects and could lead to miscarriages. It is recommended to avoid the use of California poppy during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

It is not known whether the components of California poppy are excreted in breast milk, and the possible consequences for the infant. It is advisable to discontinue breast-feeding or to avoid the use of California poppy during lactation. If used, it is advisable to monitor the child, and if excessive drowsiness occurs, it is advisable to discontinue treatment.

Children

Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been evaluated and therefore it is recommended to avoid its use. As a general rule, it should be kept in mind that insomnia in children is a symptom that should always be evaluated by a doctor before starting treatment, as it could be a symptom of a more serious disease.

Elderly

Although no specific problems have been reported in the elderly, it is advisable to use sedative plants such as California poppy with great caution, as the drowsiness they cause could lead to falls, with the consequent risk of fracture.

Effects on driving

Adverse reactions

No adverse reactions have been reported at the recommended doses.
