What is Cinfatós?
Cinfatós is a medicine whose active ingredient is dextromethorphan. This medicine is an antitussive that inhibits the cough reflex.
What is Cinfatós used for?
Cinfatós lozenges are indicated for the symptomatic treatment of coughs that are not accompanied by expectoration (irritative cough, nervous cough), also called dry coughs or non-productive coughs. For adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.
How to use Cinfatós?
To take Cinfatós lozenges, follow the instructions in the package leaflet or those given by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Dosage
The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over is: 1 or 2 lozenges (10-20 mg) every 4 hours if necessary. Do not exceed 6 doses in 24 hours.
You can also take 3 lozenges (30 mg) every 6 to 8 hours, as needed. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.
The maximum amount that can be taken in 24 hours is 12 tablets (120 mg) spread over several doses.
Always use the lowest effective dose.
Administration
Cinfatós tablets are for oral use. Slowly dissolve the tablet in your mouth. Do not chew it. Do not swallow it.
It is recommended to drink a glass of water after each dose and plenty of fluids throughout the day.
Do not take it with grapefruit or bitter orange juice or with alcoholic beverages.
It can be taken with or without food.
If your cough worsens or persists after 7 days of treatment, or if it is accompanied by high fever, skin rashes, or persistent headache, consult your doctor.
If you take more Cinfatós than you should
If you take more Cinfatós than recommended, you may experience: confusion, excitability, restlessness, nervousness, and irritability.
Taking very high doses of this medicine may cause drowsiness, hallucinations, nervousness, nausea, vomiting, or changes in gait in children.

Warning
Cases of abuse of medicines containing dextromethorphan in adolescents have been reported, so you should bear this possibility in mind, as it can cause serious adverse effects. You will find detailed information in the package leaflet in the attached tab.
Children
Children under 12 years of age cannot take this medicine because of the amount of dextromethorphan it contains.
There are other presentations that are more suitable for this age group.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or may have to take any other medicines.

Taking Cinfatós with food, drink and alcohol
Alcoholic beverages should not be consumed during treatment, as they may cause adverse effects.
Do not take it together with grapefruit or bitter orange juice, as these may increase the adverse effects of this medicine.
Other foods and beverages do not affect its effectiveness.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medicine without consulting their doctor.
Driving and using machines
In rare cases, mild drowsiness and dizziness may occur during treatment. Therefore, if you notice these symptoms, you should not drive or operate dangerous machinery.
Cinfatós contains liquid maltitol (E-965) and sodium.

Composition of Cinfatós in one tablet
Active ingredient: Dextromethorphan hydrobromide. Each tablet contains 10 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide.
Excipients: Beta-cyclodextrin, gum arabic, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharin, quinoline yellow (E-104), lime flavouring, honey flavouring, levomenthol, anhydrous citric acid, liquid maltitol (E-965), liquid paraffin and purified water.

Cinfatós 10 mg lozenges come in the form of cylindrical, lemon-yellow lozenges. Each pack contains 20 lozenges.
