Indications for Efferalgan 500 mg
Efferalgan 500 mg 20 Effervescent tablets with paracetamol is indicated for the symptomatic relief of occasional mild or moderate pain, in adults and children aged 6 and over.
Action and mechanism of Efferalgan Effervescent
The active ingredient in Efferalgan Effervescent is paracetamol, which has proven effective in reducing pain and fever.
Dosage
The normal dose is:
- Adults: Take 1 tablet (500 mg paracetamol) every 4-6 hours, as needed. Do not exceed 8 tablets/24 hours spread over 4 doses.
- Patients with kidney disease: Before taking this medicine they should consult their doctor. Take a maximum of 1 tablet per dose.
Contraindications
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take Efferalgan 500 mg.
Do not take more medicine than recommended in the package leaflet.
The use of paracetamol in patients who regularly consume alcohol (3 or more alcoholic drinks beer, wine, liquor,...a day) can cause damage to the liver. Taking this medicine with food does not affect its effectiveness.

Adverse reactions
The possible adverse effects of Efferalgan 500 mg are
- Rare adverse effects that can affect up to 1 in 1,000 people: discomfort, lowering of blood pressure (hypotension), and increased levels of blood transaminases.
- Very rare adverse effects that may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people: kidney disease, cloudy urine, allergic dermatitis (skin rash), jaundice (yellowing of the skin), blood disorders (agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, haemolytic anaemia) and hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). Paracetamol can damage the liver when taken in high doses or for prolonged treatment.
Conservation
Keep Efferalgan effervescent out of sight and reach of children. No special storage conditions are required.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date indicated on the package after CAD. The expiry date is the last day of the month indicated.
The medicine must not be disposed of down the drain or in the rubbish. Deposit unneeded packaging and medicines at the SIGRE Point in the pharmacy. If you are in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the containers and medicines you do not need. In this way you will help to protect the environment.
