Description

Mucosan Retard 75 mg 10 Extended-Release Capsules

Action and mechanism

- Mucolytic, expectorant. Ambroxol is N-desmethyl-bromhexine, an active metabolite of bromhexine. Its administration leads to a decrease in the viscosity of bronchial secretions and an increase in their volume, while promoting their expulsion. Its mechanism of action is unknown, but it could be related to an increase in the synthesis of sialomucins through the activation of sialyl transferase, thereby restoring the normal composition of glycoproteins in bronchial mucus secretions and normalising the viscoelasticity of bronchial mucus. It may also stimulate the mucous glands of the bronchial epithelium, increase lysozyme levels, which would break down mucopolysaccharides, and stimulate mucociliary activity.

Indications

- [BRONCHIAL HYPERVISCOSITY].

* Reduction of excessive bronchial viscosity in [COMMON COLD] and [FLU].
