Indications for Respibien Freshmint
Respibien Freshmint 0.5 mg/ml Nebuliser 15 ml is a medicine especially indicated for the local and temporary relief of nasal congestion, in adults and children from 6 years of age. You should consult a doctor if it worsens or does not improve after 3 days of treatment.
Action and Mechanism of Freshmint Respiratory
Respibien Freshmint belongs to the group of medicines known as sympathomimetics. It is a nasal decongestant medicine containing oxymetazoline as active ingredient. Oxymetazoline administered through the nose causes local constriction of blood vessels, decongesting the nasal mucosa.
Dosage
Follow exactly the instructions for administering the medicine contained in the package leaflet or those given by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. The recommended dose is:
- Adults and children over 6 years of age 1 spray in each nostril no more than 2 times in 24 hours
- Children under 6 years of age: This medicine cannot be used in children under 6 years of age.
- Elderly patients (over 65 years of age) Consult your doctor or pharmacist as elderly patients are more sensitive to the adverse effects of this medicine.
Contraindications
It is recommended that you consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Respibien Freshmint if you have suffered or are suffering, even if only once, from any of the following diseases or symptoms: high blood sugar levels (diabetes mellitus); high blood pressure (hypertension); heart or circulatory system disease; prostate disease with difficulty in urination (prostatic hypertrophy); and thyroid disease (hyperthyroidism).
Pharmacist's recommendations

Before applying this medicine, you must eliminate any existing nasal fluids by blowing your nose thoroughly.
To avoid contagion, after each use and before closing the container, the end of the applicator should be wiped with a clean, damp cloth. In addition, each container should be used by only 1 person.
Adverse reactions
Respibien Freshmint can cause itching at the site of application, dryness, sneezing and irritation of the nose, mouth and throat. Adverse effects that may occur on rare occasions are Anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, hallucinations, tremors, fatigue, irritability and sleep disorders in children. Tachycardia, palpitations, increased blood pressure. Headache, nausea, exanthema (reddening of the skin), inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane and visual alterations.
Conservation
Keep Respibien Freshmint out of sight and reach of children. This medicine does not require special storage conditions. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date shown on the package after CAD. The expiry date is the last day of the month shown.
