Peroxiben 100 mg/ml Topical Gel 60 gr
Indications for Peroxiben Topical Gel
Peroxiben is indicated for the local symptomatic treatment of moderate acne vulgaris in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age.
Action and Mechanism of Peroxiben Topical Gel
Benzoyl peroxide, the active ingredient of Peroxiben, has antimicrobial and sebostatic (fat regulating) activity, and is able to stop the growth of Propionibacterium acne, the microorganism that causes acne.
Posology
- Adults and teenagers from 12 years old. After washing the affected area with soap and water, apply a small amount of Peroxiben once or twice a day with your fingertips, depending on the intensity of the process and the tolerance of the skin. It is advisable to start the treatment with Peroxiben 25 mg/g gel, switching to Peroxiben 50 mg/g gel or 100 mg/g gel after 3 or 4 weeks or earlier if a good tolerance to Peroxiben 25 mg/g gel is established.
Generally an improvement can be observed after 4-6 weeks of treatment. However, longer use may be required.
- Children under 12 years of age. Do not use Peroxiben in children under 12 years of age without medical supervision.
Contraindications
The use of Peroxiben is not recommended in case of allergy or hypersensitivity to benzoyl peroxide or any of the other components of Peroxiben. Take special care with Peroxiben in case of very sensitive skin. This medicine can cause skin irritation and some redness. During the first application you will probably notice slight burning, and some redness and scaling of the skin. During the first few weeks of treatment, flaking increases suddenly in most patients. It will usually diminish within a day or two if the treatment is discontinued in any way.
Pharmacist Recommendations

Adverse reactions

During the first weeks of treatment, a sudden increase in flaking, redness, itching and pruritus (stinging) may occur in most patients; this is not harmful and usually disappears in one or two days if the treatment is temporarily interrupted. See the package insert of this medicine for all possible adverse effects.
