What is Nurofen Rapid Mini and what is it used for?

Nurofen Rapid Mini is a medicine whose active ingredient is ibuprofen. It works by reducing pain and fever.

Nurofen Rapid Mini is indicated for the relief of occasional mild to moderate symptoms such as headache, toothache, muscle pain such as muscle spasms, tendinitis, back pain such as lumbago, menstrual pain and feverish conditions. For adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

Nurofen Rapid quickly releases the liquid inside the capsule.

How is Nurofen Rapid Mini taken?

Dosage

  • The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is: 1 capsule of 400 milligrams every 6 to 8 hours, if necessary.
  • Do not take more than 3 tablets, equivalent to 1200 mg, in 24 hours.
  • You should use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary to relieve symptoms.
  • Consult your doctor if your condition worsens or does not improve, if the fever persists for more than 3 days or the pain for more than 3 days in adolescents or 5 days in adults.

Administration

  • It is administered orally with a little water.
  • Nurofen Rapid should be taken with meals or with milk, especially if you experience digestive discomfort.
  • Nurofen Rapid should be taken when pain or fever occurs.
  • Once these symptoms disappear, the medication should be discontinued.
  • If you have an infection, consult a doctor promptly.

Patients with kidney, liver or heart disease should consult their doctor as the dose may need to be reduced.

Patients over 65 years of age should consult their doctor, as they may need to reduce the dose.

Before starting to use the medicine

Use in children and adolescents under 12 years of age

They cannot take it because of the 400 mg dose of ibuprofen. There are other presentations that are more suitable for this age group.

Use of Nurofen Rapid with other medicines

Inform your doctor if you are taking other medicines that may affect this medicine, such as anticoagulants, blood pressure medicines, antiplatelet agents, other NSAIDs such as aspirin, corticosteroids, diuretics and many more, which are listed in detail in the attached package leaflet.

Interaction with laboratory tests

Blood tests, urine tests, skin tests with allergens: inform your doctor, as it may alter the results.

Taking Nurofen Rapid Mini with food, drink and alcohol

  • It is recommended to take it with meals or with milk to reduce the possibility of stomach discomfort.
  • Do not take ibuprofen with alcohol to avoid damaging your stomach.
  • Taking ibuprofen in patients who regularly consume alcohol can cause stomach bleeding. This is equivalent to 3 or more alcoholic drinks such as beer, wine or spirits per day.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

Pregnancy

  • Ibuprofen is not recommended during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy unless considered strictly necessary.
  • It has been associated with an increased risk of birth defects and miscarriages.
  • It is contraindicated in the third trimester.

Breastfeeding

  • This medicine passes into breast milk.
  • If you use it, do so at the dose recommended by your doctor and for the shortest possible period of time.

Fertility

  • Medicines such as Nurofen Rapid have been associated with a decrease in the ability to conceive.
  • Avoid taking Nurofen Rapid if you are trying to become pregnant.

Driving and using machines

If you experience dizziness, vertigo, visual disturbances or other symptoms while taking this medicine, you should not drive or use dangerous machinery.

This medicine contains 400 mg of ibuprofen, ponceau 4R (E124), soya lecithin, sorbitol and other excipients.

  • May cause allergic reactions as it contains Ponceau 4R (E-124).
  • May cause asthma, especially in patients allergic to acetylsalicylic acid.
  • Patients with renal impairment or low-potassium diets should note that this medicine contains 31.2 mg (0.8 mmol) of potassium per capsule.

Nurofen Rapid price: the price of the medicine is regulated by the state. The decision is made by the Interministerial Commission on Medicine Prices.
