Dalsy indications 20mg

Dalsy 20mg contains ibuprofen as an active ingredient and belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This medicine is used in infants over 3 months and children up to 12 years of age for the symptomatic relief of occasional, mild or moderate pain, as well as in febrile states.

Action and mechanism of Dalsy syrup

This is a viscous, orange-coloured oral suspension with an orange aroma and taste. It comes in a container with 150 ml of oral suspension, with a childproof safety cap. It includes a 5ml dispenser, graduated in millimetres.

Dosage

Dalsy syrup is only recommended for occasional use and for limited periods. The recommended dose of ibuprofen depends on the age and weight of the child. As a general rule, for children aged 3 months to 12 years, the recommended daily dose is 20 to 30 mg per kg of weight, depending on the intensity of the symptoms, and is spread over three doses. The use of this medicine in children under 2 years of age is always subject to a doctor's prescription.

Contraindications

People who are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other components of this medicine should not take Dalsy 20 mg. It is also not recommended for people with severe liver or kidney disease, severe heart failure or in the third trimester of pregnancy. For full contraindications, see the enclosed leaflet.

Adverse reactions

Dalsy 20 mg can produce adverse effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or flatulence, constipation, abdominal pain or blood in the stool. Adverse reactions can be minimised by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest time to control symptoms. Rare adverse effects include the development of gastritis, duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, skin redness, itching or tingling. Other rare or very rare adverse effects such as disorientation or confusion, vertigo or pancreatitis may also occur.
