This medicine is indicated for adults and children over 6 years of age who need to treat and relieve mild mouth and throat infections that are painful without fever.
Action and Mechanism of Faringesic 20 Lemon-flavoured sucking tablets
The action of this medicine is due to its two active compounds. On the one hand, benzocaine works as an ester-type local anaesthetic, which blocks the initiation and propagation of nerve impulses by preventing the depolarisation of the axoplasmic membrane and by interfering with the entry of sodium ions. On the other hand, chlorhexidine works as a weak astringent and antiseptic ideal for treating local discomfort in the mouth and throat.
Dosage
It is recommended that adults and children over 6 years of age take one sucking tablet every 2 or 3 hours, which should dissolve slowly in the mouth. No more than 8 tablets can be taken a day.
Contraindications
This medicine may be contraindicated for people with hypersensitivity to its active compounds. It should not be administered to children under 6 years of age or to pregnant women without the recommendation of their doctor.
