Indications for Regaxidil
Treatment indicated for adults with moderate hair loss problems related to androgenetic alopecia. Before using this medicine you must have the authorisation of your general practitioner or specialist.
Action and mechanism of Regadixil 50
This treatment contains minoxidil, an active ingredient that is mainly used to stimulate hair growth and stop hair loss. It is a vasodilator antihypertensive drug that is very effective in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia of moderate intensity.
Posology
This medicine is for external use only. The recommended daily dose is 1 ml/12 hours (if dosed with a syringe) and 10 sprays (if dosed with a dosing pump) twice a day.
Apply the product to the dry scalp, in the desired area by gently massaging with the fingertips from the inside out.
Always respect the recommended daily dose, regardless of how widespread the alopecia is. The maximum recommended daily dose is 2 ml.
Use in women: after applying the product, wash your hands thoroughly, as if the product comes into contact with other parts of the body there is a risk of hair growing in other areas of the body.
Use in elderly patients: the use of minoxidil is not recommended in this age group as no studies have been carried out on this population.
Use in children: the use of minoxidil is not recommended in children as no studies have been conducted in this population.
Contraindications
Before applying this product, a complete medical history and physical examination of the patient will be required.
If you notice the appearance of systemic effects or serious skin alterations, stop the treatment and see your doctor or specialist. If you worsen or do not improve after 30 days, contact your general practitioner or specialist.
Interaction with other medicines:
Regaxidil may increase the risk of orthostatic hypotension in patients with concomitant treatment with peripheral vasodilators and antihypertensive drugs, such as guanetidine and its derivatives.
This medicine should not be applied together with other products for skin use, such as corticoids, retinoids or occlusive ointments, as they may increase its absorption.
Pharmacist's recommendation
Accidental or unintentional overdose after the recommended application of minoxidil will increase the intensity of adverse dermatological effects, in particular: itching, dryness, skin irritation and eczema.
The use of minoxidil during pregnancy is not recommended as there is no clinical data available on the exposure of pregnant women to this active principle. As it is an oral medicine, it ends up being excreted in breast milk, so its use is not recommended during the breastfeeding period.
Adverse reactions
The most frequent adverse effects reported are: itching, dermatitis, dryness, skin irritation, eczema, hypertrichosis (hair growth on the skin). These effects are generally of mild to moderate intensity and are reversible when the treatment is suspended.
Reporting suspected adverse reactions to the drug after authorisation allows continuous monitoring of its benefit/risk ratio.
Conservation
Regaxidil 50 does not require special storage conditions.
