Description

What is Diarfin and what is it used for?

Diarfin is used for the symptomatic treatment of acute non-specific diarrhoea.

It is an antidiarrhoeal agent that reduces bowel movements and secretions, resulting in a decrease in liquid stools.

Who is this medicine for?

Diarfin is indicated for use in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.

Women who are breastfeeding should not take this medicine without doctor's advice as it passes into breast milk.

The safety of use of this medicine during pregnancy has not been established, so pregnant women should not take this medicine unless prescribed by a doctor.

Directions for use

Posology (dosage) 

Adults: 2 capsules as a starting dose, followed by 1 capsule after each diarrhoea stool, up to a maximum of 8 capsules daily.

Adolescents over 12 years of age: 1 capsule as a starting dose, followed by 1 capsule after each diarrhoea stool.

In adolescents, the maximum daily dose should be related to body weight:

From 27 kg: maximum 4 capsules.

From 34 kg: maximum 5 capsules.

Over 40 kg: maximum 6 capsules.

From 47 kg: maximum 7 capsules.

How are the capsules taken?

This medicine is taken by mouth.

Swallow the capsules with a full glass of water.

How long will this take?

Consult your doctor if your symptoms get worse or do not improve after 2 days of treatment.

Ingredients

Active ingredient

Each capsule contains 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride.

Excipients 

Capsule contents: pregelatinised maize starch, lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate.

Hard capsule: gelatin, orange yellow S (E-110) and titanium dioxide (E-171).
